Other answers:
child fell off of a bed onto the edge of a box on his belly 6 wks prior to dx.
I find it interesting that the dx was only a few months after nursing ended. I almost wonder if nursing helped hold off the disease a while. I do not believe that the end of nursing caused the diabetes though.
Croup, no other illness prior to dx
under weight
other than strep, he did have very active soccer season prior to dx and very busy school and other activities, possibly overstressed?
virus approx 6 months before diagnosis
environment, stress
high dioxin levels where we used to live
HPV vaccination
2 viruses -broke out into red bumps a few years ago.
MMR vaccine specifically
I believe vaccines could play a role along with chemicals, etc in the environment. Then a trigger sets diabetes into action--for my child it was the croup virus.
